TUMBLING SKILLS

Level 1 – This level is geared toward those who are just beginning their cheerleading careers, or still developing tumbling skill with the proper/safe technique.  

Level 1 Skills Requirement


Forward Roll
Backward Roll
Handstand on the Floor for 10 Seconds
Handstand Against the Wall (stomach Facing) 15 Seconds
Standing Bridge to 5 Second Hold with Kick Over to Lunge
Handstand to Bridge with Stand Up
Handstand to 1 Leg Bridge (mats) with 1 Leg Kick Over
Standing Bridge (with 1 leg to mat)
Cartwheel Left/Right (straight line)
Round Off
Power Hurdle into Round Off
2 Step Power Hurdle into Round Off 
Front Walkover
Back Walkover
Level 1 Specialty Pass

Level 2 – Athletes are allowed to perform single standing back handsprings as long as they are not preceded by a jump prior to the handspring. Running tumbling athletes are allowed to perform series handsprings, but are not allowed to perform any flip not braced by their hands.

Level 3 – Athletes are allowed to perform series standing handsprings and handsprings connected to jumps.  Running tumbling athletes are allowed to perform front and back tucks.  Athletes cannot perform any flips connected to a tuck

Level 4 – Running tumbling only restriction is tumbling skills cannot twist.  Consecutive bounding flips are allowed, layouts are allowed. Standing
tumbling is allowed to end in a Layout as well but cannot twist.

Level 5 – Athletes are allowed to twist in both standing and running tumbling.  Double-Fulls are allowed but may not be out of a twisting skill. Double-Fulls in standing tumbling are allowed, but must first have two non-twisting flips in front of it.
